Final Concert of Prof. Oliver Kern’s Piano Masterclass Participants

As part of the 10th anniversary edition of the ARDEA International Classical Music Masterclass 2026, the participants of Professor Oliver Kern’s piano masterclass presented their work at a final concert.

The concert offered the audience an opportunity to hear the results of the young pianists’ intensive work throughout the masterclass. Under the guidance of the renowned German pianist and professor, the participants focused on refining their technique, interpretation and individual artistic expression.

The programme featured some of the most demanding works of the piano repertoire, ranging from Beethoven and Schumann to Liszt and Rachmaninoff. The following participants performed:

• Ana Tomšić – Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 30 in E major, Op. 109 – I. Vivace ma non troppo, sempre legato – Adagio espressivo; II. Prestissimo
• Ivan Sušac – Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 27 in E minor, Op. 90 – I. Mit Lebhaftigkeit und durchaus mit Empfindung und Ausdruck
• Lucija Kašnar – Robert Schumann: Abegg Variations, Op. 1
• Fran Leko – Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 3 in C major, Op. 2, No. 3 – I. Allegro con brio
• Carlo Gjurgjević – Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 13 in E-flat major, Op. 27, No. 1 – Quasi una fantasia – II. Adagio con espressione; III. Allegro vivace
• Dora Dresler – Sergei Rachmaninoff: Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 36 – I. Allegro agitato
• Vita Šimac – Franz Liszt: Ballade No. 2 in B minor, S. 171

The diverse and technically demanding programme allowed each young pianist to demonstrate their individual musical sensibility and interpretative approach. The concert also gave the audience an opportunity to experience the results achieved during Professor Oliver Kern’s masterclass, which once again brought together talented young musicians eager to expand their knowledge and further develop their artistry.
