August 22, 2026

As part of the 10th anniversary edition of the ARDEA International Classical Music Masterclass, the final concert of the participants of Prof. Marko Zupan’s flute masterclass was held on 5 August at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Čapljina.

The concert offered the young flutists an opportunity to present the results of several days of intensive work. Under the guidance of Prof. Zupan, the participants focused on refining their technique, developing their interpretations of selected works and strengthening their individual artistic expression.

The performers were Barbara Pehar, Ana Pehar, Maja Kožul, Elena Gmoja, Lucija Hrstić, Ivana Božić and Iva Naletilić, with pianist Silvia Vukojević as artistic collaborator.

The concert opened with Barbara Pehar, Ana Pehar and Maja Kožul performing Saverio Mercadante’s Serenade for Three Flutes in F major.

The programme continued with Elena Gmoja performing Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5, followed by Lucija Hrstić with Wilhelm Popp’s Hungarian Rhapsody, Op. 385. Ivana Božić performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s Sonata in G minor, BWV 1020, while Iva Naletilić presented Paul Dukas’ Alla Gitana.

Maja Kožul completed the programme with Francis Poulenc’s Sonata for Flute and Piano, FP 164.

The diverse repertoire allowed the participants to demonstrate different aspects of their musical development, from technical precision and tone control to interpretation and communication with the audience.

The final concert once again highlighted the importance of masterclasses as a central part of the ARDEA programme. Working closely with distinguished professors gives young musicians an opportunity to gain new knowledge and valuable experience, while the final performances allow them to present the results of their work before an audience.

The 10th anniversary edition of the ARDEA Masterclass continues with concerts and workshops, bringing new musical experiences to Čapljina and creating opportunities for young talents to work alongside distinguished artists and teachers.
